Bradley Walsh was quick to quiz the child star on how long she had been on the programme.

“So long, I started when I was 12, filmed up till 16, bought it back when I was 19 for another three years, pretty much half my life!” she said

And 17 years after her debut in the series based on Jacqueline Wilson’s books about a child living in a care home, viewers couldn’t believe how different she looks.

“Tracy Beaker growed up,” one viewer tweeted.

The actress – now 30 – won £4,000 for charity on The Chase

“Tracy Beaker is on The Chase and I don’t know why I still expected her to look like Tracy Beaker,” a second wrote.

“Seeing Tracy Beaker on The Chase is surreal,” a third viewer added.

The actress, known for playing the moody teenager, went up against Anne Hegerty and managed to win £4,000 for her  chosen charity.

From 2002 to 2012, she starred in five series of The Story of Tracy Beaker, as well as a feature-length film Tracy Beaker’s Movie of Me, and three series of Tracy Beaker Returns.

And now aged 30 – the challenges of filming couldn’t be anymore different to when she first started the show at 12-years-old.

In an exclusive interview, Dani, who gave birth to daughter Avarie-Belle in 2016, said: “You don’t realise when you have your first child how difficult trying to find child care is, it’s crazy, especially with a job like mine.

“It definitely takes an army.

“We all pitch in and it’s sometimes a bit like pass the baby but luckily she loves her family and it actually helps her development.”

Dani returned for carer Mike’s wedding day but with the groom gone AWOL everyone must unite to find him and save the day.

Her appearance delighted fans of the show up and down the country, not least the ones that believe she actually is Tracy Beaker.

Dani added: “I do have the odd occasion where people actually think I am Tracey Beaker in real life and the whole thing is real.

“And I just put it down to the fact that we really did a great job on that programme.”

They’ll have an even bigger shock when they find out Tracy is now a mum.
