Teary-eyed Sam Faiers was overcome with emotion on tonight’s Mummy Diaries as she recalled her emotional recent trip to Maldova.
The reality star, 29, spent two days visiting the country’s orphanages with friend Luisa Zissman in support of children’s charity Outreach Moldova.
During a catch-up with older sister Billie, 30, after she arrived back, Sam said it was such a “life-changing” experience.
It seems the heartbreaking visit made the former TOWIE star consider making a huge decision.
After forging a special bond with a “quiet and sad” little boy who had problems with his eyesight, Sam admitted she’d consider adoption in the future.
Speaking to her sister, she said she “wouldn’t rule it out” and “doesn’t think anyone should”.
“For like two days, every time Paul was asking me about it I would get really emotional. I was saying to him how I would consider adopting,” Sam revealed.
There’s just one problem though, as the mum of two – who has kids Paul Jr. and Rosie – would have to persuade her husband Paul to make such a big choice.
Sam continued: “He was comforting me and stuff, but he just said to me, ‘You need to let this sink in, you need to think straight, you’ve just come home, you’re emotionally drained’.
“And I was, like, all over the place really.
“I would never rule out adoption, ever, and I don’t think anyone should. But obviously Paul and I do want a bigger family, and I think that would be a very serious discussion to have with Paul.”
Discussing the trip further, Sam admitted: “If it wasn’t for Outreach, the whole organisation, there’d be nowhere for them [the children] to go.
“This little boy had something wrong with his eyes, and I was like, ‘Well, what does he need then?’ and she said, ‘Oh, he needs an MRI scan’ and it worked out at about £100 or something.”
Billie chimed in: “You would spend that on a supermarket shop, you could save his eyesight.”
Sam said: “The feeling of being able to help, just like that, so quickly – obviously it’s rewarding, fantastic and amazing, but I’ve got to do more.”
Altogether the star raised £68,764 for the orphanage.
Sam added: “It’s sad because you compare it to what our children have and what we’ve been brought up with and all of it boils down to love.”
Sister Billie shed a few tears and replied: “It’s really sad.”
Mummy Dairies airs Wednesdays at 9pm on ITVBe.
