ABC News reported he had been jailed today, sentenced via video link in Cairns District Court.

He had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of rape and one count of deprivation of liberty,

The court heard the pair had met at a dance party in Far North Queensland in January 2017 – quickly forming a relationship.

However, police alleged Martin, who has tattoos on his cheeks including tear drops, then turned violent and kidnapped the young woman and held her for two months.

It wasn’t until she drove off from a petrol station without paying in Mitchell, south-west Queensland, in March 2017 that she was rescued.

Staff at the petrol station raised concerns with police before she was picked up.
