ANOTHER quietish Sunday, but I’m taking a flyer with a course favourite at Goodwood.
On the only Flat card of the day, this John Gallagher-trained mare has dropped to an attractive mark, although for good reason.
QUENCH DOLLY (Goodwood, 4.10) needs to bounce back in a big way, but ran a tad better than the bare form suggests last time out.
She was beaten into seventh, but looked a bit outpaced over the flying five at Goodwood and step up to six looks like what she needs now five.
She was unbeaten at Goodwood until her last start – with one of those wins coming off ten pounds higher.
This time last season she was horribly out of form – as she is now – but with a steady drop down the weights, got back in the winners’ enclosure and won off 88.
LATEST IN RACING
She’s shown nothing since that again, but the handicapper has now given her a huge chance and she more than hinted of a revival last time out despite being forced wide with all the pace up the rail.
Gallagher hasn’t had the strongest start to the season, but had a second at Brighton in the week at 16-1.
It’s a leap of faith, but at big odds, Quench Dolly is worth a small each-way punt to brighten up your Sunday.
