Kevin Clifton and Alex Scott look set to impress the Strictly judges this week as they shared footage of their last minute rehearsal for Saturday night’s show.
It comes after Alex’s original parter Neil Jones was forced to withdraw from the competition for the second week running.
A crushed Neil appeared with Alex on It Takes Two last night to confirm that he was unable to dance again on Saturday after injuring his calf muscle in training.
He said he’d be cheering on hero of the hour Kevin, who has kindly agreed to step in for him.
Kevin took to Instagram to share a video of him gliding round the dancefloor with Alex who already looks on great form as the pair go over the moves for their American Smooth.
Former footballer Alex looked right at home in Kevin’s arms as they performed to Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.
As they took time out from training, Kevin gushed about his new parter and said Alex ‘refused to complain’.
Kevin was knocked out of the competition in the third week after landing in the dance off with Anneka Rice.
He is the current reigning champion after taking home the Glitterball Trophy with girlfriend Stacey Dooley last year.
Yesterday, the unusual circumstances about BBC bosses decision to replace Neil with Kevin were revealed.
A show insider said: “It would have been Gorka [Marquez] but he’d gone out for coffee and with 45 minutes to go, it needed to be the fastest option.
“Kevin was there, it was literally a case of grabbing the nearest person, so he got the gig.
“Now it seems unfair to swap partners again, so Kevin will dance with Alex for the second time.”
Some fans had complained that Clifton should not be given a second star partner having already been voted off with his original celebrity Anneka Rice.
New dad Gorka was last year teamed with Katie Piper and prior to that reached the final with Alexandra Burke but this year missed out and is currently one of the background dancers.
