They are both huge movie stars in their own right.

And Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans are set to star in The Gray Man for Netflix, with the streaming service committing the biggest budget ever, according to Deadline.

The news comes after Netflix revealed that it added 10 million more subscribers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Movie stars: Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans are set to star in The Gray Man for Netflix, with the streaming service committing the biggest budget ever, according to Deadline

According to Deadline, the streaming service intends to create a James Bond-style franchise with a budget up to $200 million.

The film is based on the 2009 novel by Mark Greaney.

The Gray Man is a former CIA operative named Court Gentry who is now a freelance assassin; Ryan, 39, is set to play Court.

Chris, 39, plays Lloyd Hansen, who is hunting his former CIA colleague Court down around the world.

It was originally supposed to be a Brad Pitt/James Gray project, Deadline reported, by New Regency, but it stalled and the Russo brothers began developing the project. 

The film, which will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, is their first film since Avengers: Endgame.

The Marvel blockbuster set an all-time global box office record, according to the outlet.

Joe and Anthony’s company AGBO is producing it with Mike Larocca, with Joe penning the script; Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely will also have a writing credit.  

Christopher and Stephen wrote the script for Captain Marvel and the Avengers films Joe and Anthony directed.

January is the projected start time for filming in Los Angeles with international locations still being finalized.

Anthony told Deadline: ‘This movie is a real mano a mano between those two great actors who represent two different versions of the CIA, in what it can be, and what it can do.’

The Russo Brothers’ produced film Extraction with Chris Hemsworth was the most watched original Netflix movie of all time, with a sequel in the works; Joe Russo is writing the script.
