In the increasingly chaotic and unrelentingly grim situations that the world is finding itself in, it’s nice to know that some things are not changing.
The latest version of Queer Eye only blasted onto our screens last year but it is already a fixture of the Netflix line-up and its Fab Five are beloved across the world.
In case you are unaware of the format, five Queer guys take on making over the lives of those in need in very different ways.
And this season it feels more personal than ever for the gang as they grapple openly and honestly about their own pasts whilst changing lives in Kansas City.
The opening episode sees grooming guru Jonathan Van Ness return to his high school where he helps a figure who was central to his formative years and also confronts his own hang-ups about his darkest teenage experiences.
Meanwhile, foodie and underwear model Antoni Porowski helps one woman deal with culture clashes and domineering mother figures, fashion firebrand Tan France talks about family acceptance, and culture expert Karamo Brown helps a victim of gun crime confront the man who shot him.
Fans of interior designer Bobby Berk will also be pleased to know that he gets some great screentime this season, as his mischievous humour feels a bit less sidelined.
Preaching love, acceptance, pride, and compassion, Queer Eye remains a heartwarming and unrelentingly happy watch.
Lives are changed, new looks are embraced, and an entire season will probably be binged in an instant.
Oh and don’t think you’re getting rid of those slow-mo dancing transitions between scenes either.
The Fab Five continue to bring the magic and the tears in Queer Eye season 4.
Queer Eye season 4 is released on Netflix on July 19, 2019.
