Nigel Farage blasts Channel 4 comedy Year of the Rabbit showing assassination of right-wing campaigner called Neil Fromage

NIGEL Farage has blasted Channel 4 over a “sick” comedy show in which a right wing campaigner named Neil Fromage is shot in the head.

The Brexit Party leader, 55, is lampooned in the spoof new series Year of the Rabbit which began airing on June 10.

In the show, the Fromage character, an out-spoken right winger, is assassinated while making a speech about the dangers of immigration.

Mr Farage, who previously led anti-EU party Ukip, called the scene in question “totally sick and frankly irresponsible.”

He told the Daily Star Sunday: “I think with Channel 4 we have reached a point where they are so partisan politically in everything they do that they now consistently go beyond what’s acceptable.”

The episodes in questions airs on Monday and will be available on the channel’s on-demand service.

This comes after comedian Jo Brand was widely criticised for a joke about throwing battery acid on Farage on BBC Radio 4.

Brand’s joke came amid a series of milkshake attacks on right wing political figures during the European elections including on the Brexit Party leader.

In May, a Corbyn-supporting Remainer Paul Crowther, 32, was charged with common assault and criminal damage after he hurled a salted caramel drink over Farage.

Later he was defended by political opponents including Theresa May and Tony Blair who spoke out against the use of violence.

Members of the public were filmed laughing as Mr Farage was led away after the latest milkshake attack on politicians and public figures.
