Her boss said a warrant was out for her arrest

She was alerted to the charge when her boss called her to say there was a warrant out for her arrest.

She said: “I had to pull over because I started laughing. And he was like, ‘No, I’m serious.’”

She was charged with failure to return rental property, which carries a maximum penalty of 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.

Just days earlier she had returned the books to Charlotte Library expecting nothing more than late fees.

She added: “I really don’t think going to jail over those two books is OK.

“I definitely didn’t wanna steal their property. It’s just ridiculous.

“There is no reason that this needs to be happening.

“They would have had a better chance of getting their money if they would have sent it to collections… because I would have known.”
