Michael Barrymore has said that he is willing to speak to Stuart Lubbock’s dad so that he can have “closure”.

Appearing on GMB today, the 67-year-old responded to Terry’s anger over his interview on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, during which he discussed Stuart’s death.

The 31-year-old was found in the pool at his Essex home after a drug-fuelled party in 2001.

Barrymore was held in 2007 on suspicion of rape and murder but freed without charge.

However the scandal ended his glittering TV career.

He wants Stuart’s dad to get ‘closure’

Asked by Piers Morgan whether he would be willing to speak to Terry, he said: “I would like to speak to him… I would like him to get closure in the right way.

He added: “I’d love to meet together to get some closure or push the police to do it properly.”

Terry, 74, previously told the Mirror : “Barrymore, he only cares about himself. He’s hoping this will rehabilitate him in the eyes of the public. He still hasn’t explained what went on the night my son died.”

Barrymore also spoke about the “dark” period in his life after the death.

“All I know is that I had to get myself together to deal with it,” he said. “You have to have this blind faith that things are going to change.”

Asked whether he was looking to restart his career, Barrymore said: “If it’s the right thing to do, I’ve never chased my career.”
