The fight for Hispanic voters is heating up in Florida, and the Republican National Committee wants to show them how President Donald Trump’s administration benefits them, Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said Tuesday.

“Hispanic unemployment is at a record low,” McDaniel told Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom.” “They are able to start small businesses because loans are more available. And the other factor is we’ve got a lot of people from Venezuela and Cuba in Florida, and they recognize that the Democrat Party is proposing socialism, and they know firsthand how dangerous that is. That’s why they’ve fled those countries to come to America.”

Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to be in Miami Tuesday, and has launched a national “Latinos for  Trump” initiative, even as a new poll reveals sizable majorities of Hispanics want a Democrat in the White House next year, The Washington Post reported.

McDaniel dismissed criticism directed at the Trump campaign by 2020 Democratic presidential candidates over his record on immigration, noting that many Hispanic voters have come to the United States legally, are working hard, and “recognize the importance of a good legal immigration system.”

Hispanic voters also want “certainty,” said McDaniel, as they recognize that the U.S. must stop the influx of people coming into the country because it’s not only not good for the country, but it’s also not good for families making the journeys.

Florida is a “critical state” with a huge number of electoral votes, said McDaniel, and the party will be heavily investing in it.
