Liverpool have enjoyed a terrific start to the season having secured maximum points from their opening eight fixtures.
The Reds are eight points clear of Pep Guardiola’s stumbling Manchester City and will look to cement their title credentials with a rare top-flight victory at Old Trafford.
Liverpool’s last Premier League win at United came in 2014 courtesy of a brace from Steven Gerrard and an 84th-minute Luis Suarez strike.
But the timing for another famous win at Old Trafford couldn’t be better.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have endured their worst start to a top-flight campaign in 30 years with just two victories all season.
They’ve only managed nine goals in eight fixtures – four of those coming against Chelsea on the opening weekend – and have drawn blanks against Newcastle and AZ Alkmaar in their last two.
The Reds will therefore have no trouble collecting maximum points and should be capable of keeping a clean sheet in the process.
Prediction: Liverpool to win to nil. Priced at 15/8 with thepools.com.
Despite the Red Devils’ poor run of form – they don’t generally give much away in the opening 45 minutes of games.
In fact, they’ve only conceded two first-half goals in all competitions this term.
The pressure surrounding this fixture will be intense and Solskjaer is likely to start with an extremely defensive set-up.
It could take Liverpool a while to fire on all cylinders, so I think the second half is where we’ll see the goals.
Prediction: Draw at half time/Liverpool win full time. Priced at 7/2 with the thepools.com.
