A Manchester United fan left national radio hosts in shock when he demanded the replacement of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with the controversial Roy Keane.
United’s miserable run of form continued on Thursday against AZ Alkmaar where they recorded a dull 0-0 draw and failed to register a single shot on target.
This shortcoming has added to the growing frustration among the Red Devils’ faithful and also made Solskjaer’s position even more untenable.
Tensions are running high at Old Trafford as the team has failed to pick up a win in 10 away games and that point was illustrated by an angry supporter who called talkSPORT’s Sports Bar show to vent his grievances.
He was adamant that the Norwegian gaffer should be immediately sacked and replaced by fellow United legend Keane.
The fan claims that the Irishman will put the roster in line and offload the players who don’t cut it.
Hosts Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy were baffled by what they were hearing and defended Solskjaer but the supporter would have none of it.
He claimed it is all the former striker’s fault and even suggested that the players performed well under him last season only to spite outgoing manager Jose Mourinho.
He said: “We need to get rid of him.
“We keep saying it’s not Solskjaer… ‘it’s not him it’s the players’.
“We need Roy Keane in there!
“We need Keane in there to pin them against the wall!
“We need somebody with character who’s got the b***s to be on TV and say, ‘You are not good enough; you either play for me or you leave’.
“It is his fault!
“What has he achieved as a manager? You tell me!
“The players played when Mourinho went [because] they wanted to prove a point.
“They played for nine or 10 games.
“It’s the same players! They got [Solskjaer] the job, and now they got him the job they don’t want to play for him.”
