Man Utd confident Rashford will sign new £250k-a-week, five-year deal before pre-season tour


MANCHESTER UNITED are hopeful Marcus Rashford will extend his contract with the club before the Red Devils fly to Australia for their pre-season tour, according to reports.

The England international is expected to sign a five-year deal worth around £250,000 a week.

United had to fend off interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, who had both showed interest in signing Rashford, 21.

But the striker is reportedly set to end transfer speculations and commit his future to Old Trafford soon.

Red Devils chiefs are hoping to announce the deal even before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men fly out to Perth on July 8.

Most of club stars are due to report back from holidays on Monday to kick off pre-season preparations.

Rashford was demanding a staggering salary of £350,000 per week to put pen to paper.

But the Telegraph believe the Red Devils managed to get that figure down to £250,000 per week, putting him among club top earners nevertheless.

Solskjaer wants the England striker to lead his side’s attacking line next season with Romelu Lukaku’s exit still on the cards.

SunSport told you that Inter Milan, his preferred destination, have already started raising funds for the transfer of the Belgium international.

United’s next goals for this summer are sorting out David de Gea’s future and bringing in two more midfielders.

The Spain international is on the verge of signing a new five-year deal worth £350,000 per week after a breakthrough in negotiations.

And the Red Devils are working on deals for Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes and Newcastle starlet Sean Longstaff.

The Old Trafford side have already signed Dan James from Swansea and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.
