Love Island’s Maura Higgins has already been pulled up on her use of offensive language – before she even appears on screen.

The 28-year-old model is set to walk into the villa in tonight’s episode as one of two new girls, but show bosses had to pull her aside for a talk about her use of language after a video of her shouting a gay slur came to light.

In the footage, dated March 26, Maura yells the word “f****t” while on holiday in Dubai with her friend Jennifer McSween.

Maura, right, has been told off for her language

According to the Daily Mail, Maura was quoting from the comedy hit The Hangover, which faced controversy over its X-rated content.

She shouted, “Paging Dr F****t!” – a direct quote from Bradley Cooper’s character in the movie.

Maura then turned to the camera and said: “Are you ready to let the dogs out?”

The clip reemerged just hours before Maura was due to strut into the villa – and Love Island bosses confirmed they’ve had a talk with her abuot her language.

Maura is set to head into the villa tonight

“We do not tolerate any offensive language in the villa,” an ITV spokesman said.

“We speak to all of the islanders to remind them of what we condone to be acceptable behaviour during their time on the show.”

It comes after Maura described herself as “outgoing” and insisted she’s always loyal to her lovers.

“I’m a relationship type of girl. I hate being single. I was in a nine-year relationship that finished a few years ago,” she revealed.

“Then I was with another guy, we broke up last year sometime, then we got back together but the trust was gone and it’s not going to come back. It ended quite recently. As the trust is just gone, for me, there is no going back.

“If I’m in a relationship with someone, I’m loyal. That’s it. I’ve never cheated. I’ve been cheated on. I will trust someone until they do something wrong to me, I’m very much like that,” she added.

Maura will be entering the villa hand-in-hand with Elma Pazar tonight, where they’ll immediately cause a stir among the girls by picking three boys each to go on a date with.
