Leaked messages purporting to be from axed Love Island 2019 star Sherif Lanre have been exposed as fake.
The chef, 20, was booted from the show yesterday under mysterious circumstances, with the Islander explaining he had “broken the rules”.
After his exit, a screengrab of what appeared to be messages from Sherif appeared online.
It suggested the telly star had been axed after having a bust-up with fellow contestant Anton over sexy pharmacist Anna.
However, an ITV source has told Mirror Online the messages are fake and that’s not the reason he left the villa.
In the fake chat, Sherif appeared to message someone back on Instagram after they asked what had happened.
He supposedly wrote: “Anton happened. Purposely moving to Anna while I’m right next to him trying to touch her leg.
“Asked him for a chat in private because I wanted to confront him and it got heated and security had to split us up, heartbroken but s*** happens man.”
Yesterday, the Mirror Online exclusively revealed that Sherif was kicked off the show straight after making a “silly mistake”.
According to our TV source, Sherif knew “immediately” that this was a leaving matter. It’s unclear whether other Islanders were involved.
However, his mistake wasn’t serious enough to warrant police involvement.
“Sherif made a silly mistake and was immediately summoned to the Beach Hut – it wasn’t a criminal matter and he was spoken to and agreed to leave,” a Love Island insider told us.
“Sherif knew he had to leave immediately after being called to the Beach Hut.
“No security were involved.”
In a statement, Sherif admitted his “poor judgement” led to him leaving the villa.
“In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa,” he said.
“I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.
“I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.”
