Love Island fans convinced Tommy Fury is 'faking' good guy persona

So far on Love Island, boxer Tommy Fury has claimed to be a total softy, melting the nation’s hearts with his Hannah Montana renditions and water bottle chivalry.

But while he may have swapped the ring for sunny Majorca, his recent actions are casting shadows upon his ‘good guy’ persona.

From the outset, it was clear that the 20-year-old had a game plan. Wasting no time to fuel the drama, Tommy stormed into the villa and set his sights upon surfer Lucie Donlan. Despite knowing she was in a happy coupling, he was quick to steal her from sandwich man Joe Garratt, a decision that sent shockwaves through Twitter and marked the ring of the metaphorical boxing bell.

Tommy Fury was quick off the mark to put the moves on Lucie

Supposedly oblivious to Joe’s moody meltdown, Tommy was not afraid to step on a few toes in order to sweep Lucie off her feet. And it wasn’t long before the first love triangle of the season was dominating the show.

Determined to bring Lucie round, Tommy amped up the charm and pulled out a few smooth lines, including a cringeworthy comment that not even “three Rihannas and two Beyonces” could turn his head, should they happen to sashay into the villa.

For days, tearful Lucie was torn between the two lads. But following the cowboy showdown challenge, her last-minute decision to couple up with Joe meant Tommy missed out on the title and it was knockout for the Fury.

Saved by social media influencer Molly-Mae Hague, it was very nearly game over for the boxer, which should have been a harsh reality check. But his egotism resurfaced for round two on Sunday night when he spied Molly-Mae’s flirty exchange with new boy Danny Williams. Battling to hide his incredulity, Tommy pouted that he had never had to compete for a girl before.

Tommy ended up lying to Molly-Mae about cooking her an omelette – even though Curtis did all the work

His bold statement has definitely evoked some scepticism about whether he is the catch he thinks he is. Despite casting a spell on a number of the girls, the initial attraction seems to be wearing off. Molly-Mae hinted that her connection with the boxer is merely on a skin-deep level, explaining that she is unable to have a ‘normal’ conversation with him.

And it’s not just his lack of personality that is failing him in the villa, it’s the fibs he’s appeared to have spun to hide his tracks. During an interview with OK! magazine, Tommy claimed that he has been single for 10 months following his split from ex Millie Roberts. However, he was soon plunged into hot water after the former girlfriend took to Instagram to share her side of the story.

Posting a loved up snap of the pair, apparently taken in February, Millie claimed that they had only broken up three months earlier.

Tommy’s ex slated him for apparently lying about when they split up

Tommy was caught lying again when he told Molly-Mae he’d cooked her an omelette all by himself – despite actually having never cracked two eggs into a pan and added heat before.

It was the now-departed Sherif Lanre and Curtis Pritchard who stepped in to help Tommy apply hot water to a peppermint teabag to make his first ever cup of tea, but the boxer still managed to take credit for it when he presented the hot drink to Molly-Mae with a flourish.

It seems his incompetence is turning off viewers, too, with Love Island fans branding him “boring”.

One tweeted: “Tommy fury makes me feel SO uneasy, if boys have to sell their feelings, they’re lying. Soz, he just knows exactly what to say.”

Another wrote: “If Tommy Fury doesn’t think lying will catch up with him in the villa then he clearly hasn’t seen Love Island before.”

And a third added: “Please tell me I’m not the only girl watching #LoveIsIand that thinks Tommy Fury has actually zero game? His chat is dull as dishwater.”
