LOUIS Walsh is ‘in talks’ to return to The X Factor – and wants to bring Sharon Osbourne with him.

The Irishman was replaced for the 2018 series but could be about to make a shock return for the two special versions of the show Simon Cowell is planning for 2019.

Speaking to The Sunday Mirror, Louis, 66, said: “I’m speaking to Simon. Let’s see.”

Louis also hopes his pal and former panellist Sharon Osbourne will return alongside him, despite her falling out with show boss Simon, 59.

Sharon, 66, infamously told US DJ Howard Stern she wanted to drown the music mogul after she was dropped from the show in 2017.

But Louis is trying to mediate between the pair and orchestrate her return as well.

He said: “Sharon would be great. She’s burnt a few bridges, but that’s what’s good about her – she has an opinion.

“She’s never boring or predictable.”

Last year, Sharon claimed Simon had fired her for “being too old”, and added she would “put a f***ing brick around his neck and throw him over.”

But Louis, who had been part of The X Factor since it began in 2004, is hopeful they can make amends.

He continued: “She was only joking. It was all panto talk. They will make up.

“I’m going to mediate between them. I’ll do anything necessary.”

Earlier this year, Simon announced he was scrapping the usual X Factor format and replacing it with All Star and Celebrity versions for a year.

Louis shared his excitement at the change, revealing: “The All Star concept is great. People will watch it to see Leona Lewis, G4, Sam Bailey. Real singers, real talent.

“It could be like battle of the divas.”

Clearly as cheeky as ever, Louis acknowledged how Simon had changed his life by bringing him onto The X Factor all those years ago, but added: “He’s never changed. Only thing that has is his face.”
