Jeremy Hunt tears into ‘blusterer’ Boris Johnson ahead of tonight’s TV clash of Tory titans

JEREMY Hunt has torn into “blusterer” Boris ahead of tonight’s TV clash between the two wannabe PMs.

The Foreign Secretary went all guns blazing for the Brexiteer today just hours before the pair will go face-to-face in their first TV debate.

The team accused him of thinking he’s got it all in the bag but can’t do the detail and keeps having to do u-turns.

A source close to Mr Hunt said earlier: “Boris thinks he’s got this in the bag.  He’s measuring up the curtains, promising numerous jobs and kicking back.  Is this the man you want round the table ‪at 3 am‬ negotiating with the EU?”

They went on: “He can’t do detail. He’s u-turned on four policies in recent days. Hikes in public sector pay, axing half the cabinet, milkshake tax, and tax rates all unravelled within 24 hours of being unveiled. Is this what to expect from a Boris Johnson Premiership? Bluster is not a negotiating strategy.”

They said Boris was a “great commentator” but what the country needs right now is a “leader, not a newspaper columnist”.

Boris picks up £250,000 a year for his newspaper articles in the Daily Telegraph.

Mr Hunt was ready to take the fight of his life to Boris tonight.

The Sun revealed today how they think it’s their last chance to try and turn the contest around, as around half of members have already voted now.

Boris is still in the lead in every poll of members so far.

However, the public are warming to Jeremy Hunt and think he could become a better PM than Boris, some research has shown too.
