Olympian James Cracknell is reportedly set to take to the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 ballroom this year.
The rowing pro, 45, was banned from the show by wife Beverley last year, but is said to have been approached about signing up to this year’s line-up following the end of their 17 year marriage.
An BBC insider told The Sun : “James has always been interested in doing some reality TV but after getting offered Strictly Come Dancing last year Beverley put her foot down.
“She always trusted James but she told pals she didn’t want ‘Russian f***y in his face every week’ as part of the competition.”
They revealed that James – who also recently appeared on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls – is yet to sign a contract, but is keen to join another hit show to boost his profile.
“The irony is that because of his height he’ll probably be paired with one of the taller, statuesque dancers. Beverley’s fear may yet come true!,” they added.
James’ decision comes after his wife Beverley wrote a scathing tell-all following their break up, where it seemed that Strictly fears were the least of her worries.
She told The Times how he changed significantly after his well-documented brain injury, and put his family on the back burner to succeed at Cambridge University and win the Boat Race.
If Beverley’s account of her husband is true, he’s likely to thrive on the Strictly dancefloor, as she also criticised his “perpetually iron will ,” revealing it often meant his personal projects came before family and friends.
The pair had been together since 2002 but announced in April that it’s all over.
Beverley nursed James back to health following his devastating brain injury in 2010 – but they released a joint statement confirming the news ahead of his rowing feat.
The pair explained they decided to separate last year and their children Croyde, 14, Kiki, 10, and Trixie, eight, remain their priority.
James is the latest star to be tipped for Strictly, alongside the likes of Harry Redknapp and Adrian Dunbar.
Mrs Hinch has also been hotly tipped to join the new line-up, and so has Topgear’s Chris Evans.
