In previous years, those who miss out on the first batch of pre-orders have had to wait weeks or even months for a new phone.

We’ve got a load of tips on how to get hold of one below.

The new iPhones – what are they?

Apple unveiled three new iPhones on September 10 at a lavish press event in California.

They’re the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Apple says the handsets are “the most powerful iPhones ever created.”

They’re also the most expensive ever released in Britain, with the bulky 11 Pro Max starting at a knee-wobbling £1,149.

The iPhone 11 Pro is Apple’s flagship handset, and comes with a 5.8in display.

A bigger version, the iPhone 11 Pro Max, has similar specs but boasts a massive 6.5in screen.

The big selling points are their bizarre triple camera systems.

They’re housed in a square bump on the back of the phone that’s not exactly easy on the eye.

Each system houses a normal lens, a 4x optical zoom telephoto lens and an ultra-wide lens.

Your photos will be bolstered by a new tool called “Deep Fusion”, which uses AI to combine nine images all taken at once every time you take a snap.

They also boast a Night Mode that automatically brightens your pictures up when snapped in the dark, according to Apple.

You can even shoot video in ultra-wide at 4K resolution, if you fancy it.

Apple has also stuck a new microchip each phone, dubbed the A13.

That promises to help your phone and apps load faster, and makes it easy to play high-intensity games.

According to Apple, the battery lasts up to four times longer than the iPhone XS. That means about 14 hours of medium-intensity use.

You’ll get a fast-charge 18W adaptor in the box, allowing you to juice up at high speed.

As with other recent Apple handsets, the two phones will of course come with Face ID, memoji, Apple Pay and all the other various tools and features Apple geeks know and love.

The Pro and Pro Max come in four colours: Midnight green, space grey, silver, gold.

The iPhone 11 – features, specs, and improvements

The second handset announced by Apple is the slightly cheaper iPhone 11.

With a 6.1in display – making it smaller than the 11 Pro Max but larger than the 11 Pro – the gizmo boasts a dual-lens camera on the back and comes in six colours.

As well as a normal main lens, the new camera comes with a 12MP ultra-wide lens that lets you take even more in with your photos.

The camera also shoots in Night Mode and can manage 4K video recording.

Like its bigger brother, the iPhone 11 also comes with the brand new A13 chip.

The iPhone 11 comes in six colours: Lavender, black, green, purple, red and white.

New iPhones – price, release date, how to pre-order

Apple hasn’t mucked about with the pricing this year, giving us the most expensive iPhone ever made.

That’s the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which comes in at £1,149, followed closely by the iPhone 11 Pro at £1,049.

The iPhone 11 is considerably cheaper with a price tag of £729 – that’s £70 cheaper than last year’s iPhone XR.

Pre-orders for all three open at 1pm BST on the 13 September, with the phones shipping a week later on September 20.

You can get hold of them on the Apple website, or through a UK mobile network.

Here in the UK, BT, EE, O2, Three, Sky Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone are offering the new iPhones.

It’s probably worth having several sites open at once when the clock strikes 1pm, as the phones will sell out quick.
