HILARY Duff has revealed there is going to be a Lizzie McGuire reboot and noughties kids are losing their minds.
The actress, 31, said she was “beyond excited” to be bringing the iconic character back to TV screens in an updated Disney Plus series.
The original series ran for two seasons between 2001 and 2004 and followed the life of a 13-year-old girl who dreamed of being popular at school.
Duff said on Instagram: “I’ve been trying to contain this excitement for a long time while this has been in the works!”
“I am beyond excited to be home again, back with my girl.”
The sequel will feature the title character as a 30-year-old living in New York.
Lizzie McGuire ran from 2001-2004, following 13-year-old Lizzie (Duff) and her cartoon alter-ego.
Alongside her best friends Miranda (Lalaine) and Gordo (Adam Lamberg), she dealt with family issues, school and teenage life.
The show was so popular it spawned spin-off film The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which was released in 2003.
The flick saw Lizzie and Gordo head on a class trip to Rome – where Lizzie found that she had a pop star double and sang at the Italian Music Awards.
It will screen on the forthcoming Disney Plus streaming service.
