Harry Redknapp and beloved wife Sandra will have their first coronavirus jab on Thursday as the government’s vaccination drive continues in earnest across the United Kingdom.

The affable former West Ham United manager and his wife of 54-years, who are both 73, fall into one of the highest priority tiers for the crucial vaccine, which comes in two doses.

And appearing on Thursday’s edition of Lorraine, Harry admitted they were next in line for the jab – with their first scheduled for later that day.

Talking to the host remotely from the couple’s Sandbanks home, he said: ‘Me and Sandra are off today to get the vaccine, we’re pleased to get that done.

‘It’s the first one obviously, we have to wait for the second. But it’s great, I think everyone should get the vaccine.’

Harry also revealed he’d been whiling away the long hours in isolation by immersing himself in football, which has continued uninterrupted across all professional leagues.

‘There’s plenty of football to watch and Sandra’s got the soaps on so we’re keeping happy.’

But he admits he doesn’t miss the demand that comes with managing a football club since parting ways witrh his last club, Birmingham City, in 2017.

He said: The rewards are incredible when you’re a football manager don’t get me wrong, but the stress you take on with you.

‘When you’re trying to get a result and you feel like you’re letting the fans and everyone [down], it was difficult to switch off. My one release was getting home and spending time with my wife.’

Harry has now embarked on a series of new ventures, among them a recently launched podcast, but he draws the line at a potential appearance on Strictly Come Dancing.

‘I’m not very romantic Lorraine, I promise you. I wish I was,’ he said. ‘My dancing is not very good… I love Strictly but I certainly wouldn’t be giving that a go.’
