Sinead Tinker’s funeral arrives on Coronation Street and Daniel Osbourne struggles to cope after discovering that his laptop has been taken.
On his laptop, Sinead recorded videos for their son Bertie for him to watch when he is older.
Next week, Daniel makes it back just in time for Sinead’s funeral service as she is laid to rest.
They all gather at the Rovers for the wake but Daniel tells Peter that he is going to watch the videos Sinead made for him and Bertie.
Unbeknown to him, his flat is being burgled – with the burglar stealing Daniel’s laptop.
While the wake continues at the pub, Daniel is horrified when he opens the door of his flat to see it completely trashed.
Daniel rings up Peter, who gets Carla to take him to Ken’s while he calls the police.
Peter later discovers that the thief took Daniel’s laptop, which had all of Sinead’s videos on it. This leaves Daniel utterly devastated and tries to take matters into his own hands.
Craig Tinker has a day off and decides to help Daniel try to track down the laptop in various pawn shops within the area.
However when Daniel spots a laptop that looks like his, he accuses the shopkeeper of handling stolen goods and ends up smashing the glass cabinet with a golf club.
Meanwhile, Billy tells Paul that on the day that Bertie began working for him, someone stole his diary which had all the details of the funeral. Later, a spate of burglaries occurred.
Paul and Gemma went out to investigate and were left shocked when they found a bag of stolen goods under the stairs at number 5.
The police later arrive at the pawn shop and Craig and Peter try to convince the shop owner to drop the charges as they explain the situation.
Daniel then breaks down in tears and tells Adam that Bertie deserves a better dad.
When Daniel lets himself into his flat, he breaks down in tears after discovering Sinead’s broken mug on the floor. Beth calls in and finds Daniel in a state and tries to comfort him.
Meanwhile, after Gemma and Paul wrongly accuse Bernie, they apologise and realise that they only other person who had access to Billy’s diary was Kel.
Gemma and Bernie manage to break into Kel’s flat and discover Daniel’s laptop and a heap of old photos of Paul and other children.
Paul’s sister is horrified as she begins to comprehend their significance and as she and Bernie return with the photos and laptop, Paul is forced to face his past.
Paul tells his family about the sexual abuse he suffered at Kel’s hands, leaving Gemma heartbroken.
