Jake Quickenden has been forced to pull out of Dancing On Ice’s Christmas show after breaking a bone in his neck.
The former X Factor star, 31, was set to take part in their festive special but has suffered a nasty injury which would mean it would be “dangerous” for him to dance.
For the first time ever since the show began, ITV are airing a Dancing On Ice Christmas Special which is set to rival Strictly’s yearly one.
Jake, who won the show in 2018, was set to perform a routine alongside the likes of Ray Quinn and Gemma Collins.
However Jake confirmed today that he has had to pull out of taking part after the medical team wouldn’t give him the OK after his injury.
He tweeted: “Devastated I’ve had to pull out of @dancingonice Christmas show, I’ve broken a bone in my neck and I won’t have time to heal and the medical team think it’s too dangerous and to much of a rush to try and take part!!! Gutted.”
Dancing On Ice’s official Twitter account added: “Unfortunately due to an existing injury, and on medical grounds, @JakeQuickenden will no longer be able to participate in #DancingOnIce at Christmas. We wish you a speedy recovery Jake!”
The line-up for 2020’s series has already been confirmed, with Joe Swash, Corrie’s Lisa George, Michael Barrymore and Diversity’s Perri Kiely ready to put on their skates and dance on live TV.
It will also feature the first ever male pairing as Steps singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins is partnered up with pro skater Matt Evers.
After the news was announced, Ian said that he was “overwhelmed” at the support he had received.
“Totally overwhelmed today… I’ll need some time to just take it all in!!” he said. “I’m just totally blown away by your incredible support and messages! Thankyou so much, truly xx.”
