Gossip Girl set to return in 10-episode reboot – but cast remains a mystery

Cult teen drama Gossip Girl is returning with a reboot announced.

The 10 one-hour episodes will appear on HBO Max and will be set eight years after the original and feature a new generation of privileged teens in New York, producers said.

HBO Max is the upcoming streaming service from media giant WarnerMedia and no details were given on cast members or a release date.

According to the show’s synopsis, the reboot will “address just how much social media – and the landscape of New York itself – has changed” in the last decade.

Gossip Girl is returning

Original series creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will serve as executive producers while Joshua Safran, a producer on the first Gossip Girl, is on writing duties.

The original Gossip Girl starred Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley and British actor Ed Westwick as a group of spoiled teens living in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
