The theory emerged years ago as Twitter users contrasted different images of the First Lady using the hashtag #FakeMelania. New comments regarding Ms Trump’s seemingly changing appearance pointed out her style choice and even her facial features and mannerisms.

One Twitter user said: “I don’t know but is this really Melania? Since when have you seen her wear flats?!

“Even when she visited the South hit with hurricanes she wore heels!

“Or bulky coats? Everything she wears is quite fitted.”

Another commented added: “OMG! It’s amazing how there are still people out there that don’t know that Trump uses a Melania double!!”

A third person wrote: “That’s not Melania thats her secret service decoy.”

Donald Trump has previously denied the body double conspiracy theories, accusing the media of editing images of Ms Trump.

In a tweet sent in March 2019, the US President labelled the news media “deranged” as he attempted to debunk the bizarre remarks.

He wrote: “The Fake News photoshopped pictures of Melania, then propelled conspiracy theories that it’s actually not her by my side in Alabama and other places.

Reports he was “not happy” with his wife Melania’s renovation work at the resort fuelled rumours around the president’s absence.

One person attending people attending the event told DailyMail.com that people attending the $1,000 per-head ticketed event had to either be members of the club or a guest of a member in order to be admitted.

Photographs of the gala showed people failing to wear face masks despite the ballroom typically hosting hundreds of people at once.

It is unclear how many guests were in attendance this year, but by Wednesday at least 500 tickets had been reserved, according to CNN.

Mr Trump had allegedly been in a dark mood during the festive period at the exclusive club after seeing some renovations commissioned by Ms Trump.

According to CNN, Mr Trump was immediately angered by the decorations, which he saw three days before Christmas.

One of the sources told the news outlet Mr Trump was “not happy” with the decor.

Another source told CNN “the vibe was off” this Christmas at the club compared with previous years.
