Emmerdale aired worrying scenes on Thursday night, as Dan Spencer was rushed to hospital after an incident at the garage.

He’d suffered a major allergic reaction, and ended up falling over and hitting his back against the floor.

Brenda and Eric Pollard were the first to find him, and called an ambulance hoping to save his life.

But as they waited for news on his condition and if he would be okay, things took a surprising turn in the first of two episodes of the ITV soap.

Dan had been helping Brenda prepare some wraps at the café which she was hoping to sell to pay off some debt.

With him busy at the garage that day, he decided to take one with him for his lunch.

But shortly after eating it his throat began to close up, and he couldn’t breathe.

It’s when he tried to reach his phone to call for help that he fell and landed on his back, hitting some tools and the floor below.

Brenda and Eric urgently called an ambulance, with Eric also trying to find an EpiPen back at the house, with grandson Jacob having them for his nut allergy.

Soon the character was raced to hospital as the doctors did what they could to help him.

As many questioned what could have caused the reaction and what allergy he might have, they were left unsure what he’d eaten.

But Brenda did know the truth, and decided to risk Dan’s life and safety to protect herself – appearing to have forgotten to label her food ingredients.

Viewers were stunned as Brenda found the wrapper of the wrap he’d eaten, and instead of telling anyone about it she hid the evidence in her pocket to save herself from any potential trouble.

One fan commented: “Brenda gone dark, The food killing women of Emmerdale.”

Another said: “Brenda knows it’s her fault.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.
