EastEnders actor Danny Walters, who plays Keanu Taylor on the BBC soap, has hinted at a dramatic showdown with rival Ben Mitchell.
The characters have never seen eye-to-eye, and with Keanu’s affair with Ben’s stepmother Sharon Mitchell about to be exposed it seems they could go head-to-head once more.
Speaking exclusively to Mirror online at the Inside Soap Awards 2019, Danny revealed the Sheanu affair reveal would be “explosive”.
Now, the actor has promised the plot will lead into the new year, and while he remained cryptic over the details he hinted two characters could have a showdown.
He told us of whether the repercussions of the Christmas Day episode could continue into 2020: “I believe so, but it may change…”
On what’s to come for his character, he swerved talk of a potential death in the fallout by revealing a rivalry would resurface.
Ben and Keanu initially came to blows when Phil Mitchell’s son framed Keanu for his attack, leading to him going on the run.
It will soon come out that Keanu, the partner of Ben’s sister Louise, had an affair with Sharon.
Sharon is pregnant with his child, as is her stepdaughter Louise, while Phil believes her unborn child is his having no idea about the fling.
When the truth does come out, Danny hinted Ben wouldn’t take the news very well.
He said: “I don’t think Keanu and Ben have ever got along or will ever get along.
“They’re amicable and put on a front for the family but there is a pure hatred for each other on a real deep level.
“There is that Able and Cain sort of story where Keanu is the favourite to Phil, and Ben is more jealous of Keanu so there’s always gonna be that rivalry – so maybe there’s gonna be some repercussions and a showdown between them too as well. Keanu has a lot of enemies.”
EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
