EastEnders fans were left reeling by a dramatic episode of the BBC soap on Thursday, that saw Mel Owen’s death and the reveal of Sharon Mitchell’s baby secret.
Lisa Fowler accused Sharon of murdering her best friend Mel, before telling ex Phil that he wasn’t the father of Sharon’s baby.
Towards the end of the episode, Lisa accused Sharon of shutting Mel up in front of Phil, their daughter Louise and Sharon’s fling Keanu Taylor.
It’s then that she told a shocked Phil that Mel had discovered that Sharon’s unborn child wasn’t his, and that was why Mel was headed to the airport to greet him – with Sharon herself in hot pursuit.
Sharon didn’t even deny the claims but made it seem she was making it up, before storming off.
Moments earlier she had told Phil that Mel was acting erratically in recent weeks, still not over the death of her son Hunter.
She quickly filled his mind with claims that Mel had been saying a lot of weird things of late.
No doubt she expected someone, maybe Lisa, to bring up Mel’s claims about the baby and potentially even her affair with Louise’s fiancé Keanu.
But after getting in there first, she was horrified to see Lisa storm into the house demanding to know what happened.
Louise and Keanu followed, before Sharon tried to downplay Lisa’s accusations of murder and the fact she was trying to stop her getting to Phil.
Phil asked what was going on, confused over why Mel was driving to the airport, and Lisa decided to tell Phil and Louise the truth – clearly still not aware that Keanu is the father of Sharon’s baby.
She blurted out that Sharon’s baby wasn’t his, later adding it was “the truth” and Mel had told her this before her death.
Phil looked rocked by the claims, clearly unsure how to act, as Louise also seemed baffled – while it’s not thought either of them will believe the news.
Sharon told her husband to get Lisa out the house as a guilty Keanu watched on, while she herself fled upstairs.
Viewers know the affair will rock the Mitchells this Christmas, so it seems Lisa’s words may not be believed.
EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
