The 74-year-old left the White House last week before Joe Biden was sworn in to become the 46th US President. He refused to attend Mr Biden’s inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, making him the first President to snub a successor’s inauguration since 1869 and only the fourth President to have done so in US history.
Mr Trump also became the first US President to be impeached twice after he was charged by the House of Representatives with “inciting an insurrection” following the violent protests at Capitol Hill.
Mr Trump faces a Senate trial which will decide whether he can ever run for US President again.
Mary Trump, the former president’s niece, said her uncle has caused “incalculable” damage to America.
Mary, a clinical psychologist, has given several interviews to media outlets in the run up to the end of President Trump’s time in office.
But now she is “prepared” to change her name in order not to be associated with Mr Trump.
The 55-year-old told the Sunday Telegraph: “The damage Donald has done to this country is incalculable.
“We’re just waiting to find out how much is irreparable.”

Mr Trump flew to Florida during President Biden’s inauguration with the former First Lady Melania Trump.
Sources told CNN that Melania was “not sad to be leaving” Washington.
Melania and Donald are said to have slept in separate bedrooms for the “majority” of their time at the White House.
A source told CNN: “Donald Trump slept in his own bedroom, which was previously a study or den during other administrations.”
It came amid rumours Mrs Trump will file for divorce now the couple have left the White House.
Last year, a former aide of Mr Trump, Omarosa Manigault Newman, told the Daily Mail: “Melania is counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce.”
