Dianne Buswell made a full recovery in time to dance on Strictly as she and partner Dev Griffin achieved their highest score yet.
The professional dancer suffered a nasty fall in training on Friday when the radio DJ reportedly dropped her on her head, it led to worries she wasn’t going to be able to perform on Saturday.
However Dianne confirmed , while she was recovering in bed, that she would take to the floor to perform their couple’s choice to a song from the new Aladdin movie scoring themselves a 36 out of 40.
Dianne and Dev impressed the judges with their street dance inspired moves which brought Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli to their feet with a standing ovation.
Bruno branded the dance “genius” going on to say: “That was so inspired, original, fresh, exciting. You were playing a character and telling a story, what a magic carpet ride. Excellent.”
“I absolutely loved that, I thought you danced that brilliantly, amazing,” gushed Craig Revel Horwood.
Motsi added: “That was so epic, this is one of those dances that we will remember forever! I see your hard work and you working, when you are on the floor you make it look like walking, that was out of this world!”
Head judge Shirley was also full of praise: “I’m speechless, all of the performances we’ve seen this evening it’s been fantastic.
“You are absolutely an exception to the rule here, you are stunning in every way. You gave everything, from footwork to timing. You had it all, so fantastic, we loved it.”
It was a good end to the week for the pair after Dianne’s accident during rehearsals, but she managed to escape any serious injury.
After all the drama, Dianne returned to Instagram to share a video clip showing Dev in the dance studio going over his moves without her.
She captioned the video: “He does not stop even if I’m not there.”
No mention of her fall was made on Saturday night’s show but judging by the pair’s stellar performance it’s likely they’ll be back on next week’s show.
