Bernie Winter will try to ‘murder’ paedophile Kel Hinchely after making a horrific discovery on Coronation Street .
All hell will break loose when Bernie discovers that her boyfriend sexually abused her son when he was a child.
Paul Foreman has been struggling to comprehend what happened to him when he was just 14 – with Kel convincing him they were in love.
The dark sex abuse storyline will come to an explosive climax when Paul bravely reveals the truth to his mum.
Stunned Bernie is initially in denial but discovers haunting pictures that prove Paul is telling the truth about the abuse.
A source said: “All hell will break loose when Bernie finds out the truth that Kel did abuse Paul.
“With Paul’s words ringing in her ears she starts to search for anything that will put her mind at rest and discovers a box of pictures that Kel he took of Paul.
“Bernie realises immediately Paul was telling the truth and she flies into a fury. She goes into a violent rage and tries and kill Kel by beating him up with a stool for what he has done to her son and family.”
Actress Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie, is going to show what she can do with such a powerful storyline.
Corrie viewers have watched in horror over the last few weeks since Kel came back into Paul’s life.
Billy Mayhew has tried to help Paul seek help, but he has turned to drink and even put Kel in hospital by beating him up.
Corrie star Joe Alessi teased his explosive exit from the soap last week during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine.
The Kel actor admitted that he did have “qualms” about playing the controversial character.
He heavily researched the subject matter and felt a “lot of pressure” to get the role right.
Speaking to Lorraine Kelly about the storyline, he said: “I have no idea [how long I have left], it is open-ended.
“The character I’m playing is finite, I’ll never be a regular on Corrie that’s sure. My role will come to an end.”
Asked whether he had any qualms about playing the character, he said: “Yes of course. Talk about being thrown into the deep end. It’s not just another acting job.”
