Gemma – who recently gave birth to quads – will now be plunged into another dramatic storyline as they try to stop Kel, played by Joe Alessi, in his tracks.

Dolly Rose Campbell’s character, along with mum Bernie and Paul, will pose as a teenage boy online and appear to set up a meeting in a park.

New teaser shots released by the ITV soap show Paul waiting behind a bush for his step dad, and the drama to unfold.

Later snaps show him confront Kel in a fights, which sees Paul grab onto his green jacket and Kel attempt to struggle away.

Bernie, wearing a green jacket to blend in with the trees, records the action on her phone to catch Kel red-handed, and proceeds to wave the mobile in front of his face.

Meanwhile Gemma, appearing to have left the kids at home, is seen rifling through his plastic carrier bag and finds cans of beer and condoms.

Talking of the upcoming story a source told Daily Star Sunday: “Bernie brought Kel into Paul’s life so she’s angry.”

Paul was left horrified by Kel’s return to the Corrie cobbles, with his family initally unaware of what he had been subjected to as a child.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly about the storyline, Joe said: “I have no idea how long I have left, it is open-ended.

“The character I’m playing is finite, I’ll never be a regular on Corrie that’s sure. My role will come to an end.”

Joe added he had his doubts about playing such an awful character, but he hopes that the storyline will help victims like Paul.

He said: “Talk about being thrown into the deep end, but it’s not just another acting job – it comes with a responsibility to raise awareness on male sexual abuse.

“I worked very closely with Survivors Manchester, which is a great charity.

There’s a lot of pressure to get it right, you can’t play the panto villain because it cheapens it.”

Corrie producer Iain MacLeod previously said of the harrowing storyline: “Gemma and Paul’s family background has always been fascinating to me – the inseparable bond of twins but with a huge fault-line down the middle, which we’ve hinted at but never explained.

“This story sensitively explores something that is tragically all too common in families in the real world and will highlight the way these painful events still reverberate many years later.

“It will, I hope, allow people who have survived similar abuse and perhaps suffered in silence to find their voice and speak up.”
