Coronation Street fans spotted a massive Ken Barlow blunder during Wednesday night’s first episode.
It was a very special day for Ken, who was celebrating his 80th birthday, surrounded by his friends and family.
Girlfriend Claudia Colby and old friends Rita Tanner and Audrey Roberts gathered outside No.1 to wish Ken a happy birthday.
After singing a merry song, Rita then said: “Step back Adam, we’re going to give your dad the bumps.”
Ken jokingly recoiled in fear, but Corrie viewers were more concerned about the glaring blunder that had been made.
They pointed out that Adam is not Ken’s son – he is actually his grandson.
Adam’s mum is Ken’s daughter Susan Barlow, who was tragically killed in a car crash back in 2011 caused by Billy Mayhew.
Corrie viewers flocked to Twitter to point out the continuity error during the episode.
One viewer tweeted: “@itvcorrie did anyone else notice the blunder at Ken’s front door? Rita called Ken Adam’s dad, Adam is Ken’s daughter’s son.”
“#Corrie masterclass tonight. However Ken is Adam’s Grandad not his Dad,” added another.
A third asked: “Isn’t Ken Adam’s granddad not dad?”
“Why did Rita just tell Adam that they’re going to give his dad the bumps? Ken is his grandad, not his dad,” said a fourth.
Ken and the ladies then went inside for some champagne, with Rita claiming it was “fizz o’clock”.
The special celebrations then moved to The Rovers – where Daniel had also arranged a joint party to celebrate Bertie’s first birthday early so Sinead could be there.
Emotional Sinead was touched but broke down in tears as she revealed to her family she only has weeks left to live.
Earlier in the day, Sinead and Daniel were told by the oncologist that she was not responding well to chemotherapy and did not have long left to live.
The pair headed home, leaving Ken to announce the devastating news to the rest of the pub.
Corrie fans were in tears over Ken’s powerful monologue, which ended with him saying that Sinead was “the best thing that ever happened” to Daniel, before breaking down in tears.
