Conor McGregor has encouraged people to stay as fit as possible during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. The Covid-19 outbreak has forced countries across the globe to go into lockdown to curb its spread.

McGregor’s homeland of the Republic of Ireland has been no different, with the Irish government implanting strict restrictions on gatherings and certain businesses being open.

Like the UK, Ireland has also advised citizens to stay indoors unless they’re leaving the house for essential shopping or light exercise.

McGregor has been doing the latter at his home gym in Dublin and has encouraged his fellow countrymen and countrywomen to do the same.

Alongside a video of him going for a run with his dog, McGregor wrote: “God bless this weather. Stay active! Stay distant! Let’s go.”

“I know a good fight when I see one and we have got one on our hands now.

“I want to call upon my people, the great people of Ireland. This needs us all.

“We are all in the red corner together awaiting the bell so let’s gather together and ring the bell ourselves.”

He added: “We must close our airports. We must close all non-essential business. We must end all non-essential travel,” added McGregor.

“This is my proposal and I pray that we can make this happen.”

McGregor, 31, made his long-awaited return to the UFC in January in the main event of UFC 246, where he locked horns with Donald Cerrone.

The former two-division champion demolished Cerrone in 40 seconds to pick up his first in over three years and become the first fighter in the promotion’s history to register stoppage victories in the featherweight, lightweight and welterweight division.

‘The Notorious’ is hoping to return to his active ways in 2020, setting his sights on two more Octagon outings.
