There has been a resurgence of the deadly coronavirus in the region’s capital of Urumqi. Beijing has declared “wartime” conditions in the state. China has been implementing extreme measures to contain the virus.

In the region, there is a brutal campaign against the Uyghur Muslim minority.

An estimated three million people are understood to have been thrown into camps.

These camps are split into those for men, women, and special prison-like ‘orphanages’ for children.

Reports have been leaked from the high surveillance region of severe human rights abuses.

“Now that even our basic personal safety cannot be guaranteed, why do we care about fighting the virus?”

Even cities with zero cases of coronavirus have been placed in lockdown with many not able to get enough daily food.

One social media user said that other parts of China had not been subject to the same lockdown measures.

But, in contrast, a comment on social media said: “The whole of Xinjiang is under lockdown without exception.”

Uyghur’s in Xinjiang have also complained about being forced to drink traditional herbal medicine.

The Chinese government has promoted traditional medicine as a remedy for coronavirus.
