CHELSEA have launched talks with PSG over record-scorer Edinson Cavani after being linked with an 18-month deal for the Uruguay striker, reports say.
Blues‘ technical mentor Claude Makelele is said to have discussed Cavani while he was in in France to meet the Ligue 1 giants about signing their 17-year-old prodigy Kays Ruiz-Atil.
Striker Cavani, 32, who has six months left on his contract, is thought to be keen on leaving PSG after falling down the pecking order.
And the French champs might be more willing to sell him in this month’s transfer window rather than lose him for nothing when his contract runs out in the summer.
But they are believed to want an unlikely sum of £23m, having rejected an offer of £8.5m from Atletico Madrid.
Goal suggest Makelele used Chelsea‘s pursuit of midfielder Ruiz-Atil to raise the subject of Uruguay legend Cavani with PSG.

But no bid has yet been been made for the ex-Napoli hero, who Blues’ boss Frank Lampard openly admires.
With Lamps looking for back-up to 22-year-old England frontman Tammy Abraham, he said of Cavani: “He is a great player. I played against him.
“I am not sure what the situation is there though.
“He has experience, sometimes it’s good to bring in experience.”

Chelsea have also been linked with two 23-year-olds, RB Leipzig’s Germany forward Timo Werner and Lyon’s France Under-21 attacker Moussa Dembele.
But £60m-rated Werner is understood to have hinted he would prefer to join Liverpool rather than the Blues or Barcelona.
And Lyon have warned Chelsea and Manchester United to steer clear as they fight to keep Dembele.
