A woman pretending to be her son unknowingly flirts with a man disguised as a single mum as she begins her bid to find her son a girlfriend on The Circle tonight.

The two catfish instantly gravitate towards one another and oddly find some common ground – despite both pretending to be two completely different people.

The second series of the Channel 4 show begins tonight, with new host Emma Willis presenting the show live for the very first tim.e

Viewers will watch as the eight players make themselves at home in their new flats, create their profiles and then have to rate each other instantly on first impressions.

The Circle chat then eventually opens for a big group chat, during which supposed single mum Sammy, who is really James, instantly receives gushing praise over her cute baby Charlie.

‘Sammy’ instantly takes advantage and messages: “I think today is the first time in a long time I’ve used the toilet without the little one staring at me.”

Meanwhile Katie, who is playing as son Jay, instantly starts flirting with the girls by messaging: “Really looking forward to getting to know you all, and I must say all you ladies are looking well fit.”

‘Jay’ then decides to start a chat with ‘Sammie’ and initially wants to bond over parenting but then realises that Jay doesn’t have any kids.

Instead, ‘he’ heaps on the praise for Sammie being a single mum going at it alone.

‘Jay’ tells ‘Sammy’ about herself, saying: “She did a great job on her own, because I turned out alright.”

This instantly makes ‘Sammy’ feel as though he has a connection to ‘Jay’ because their lives are so similar.

‘Sammy’ quips to himself: “I feel like we’re gonna get on on the outside as well… Once he gets over the fact I’m not a young single mum.”

*The Circle airs tonight at 9.15pm on Channel 4
