Ryan Hawley has quit Emmerdale after five years, it has been reported.
The actor, who plays Robert Sugden, looks set for a dramatic exit at the end of this year.
News of his exit will leave fans utterly devastated after garnering support through Robert’s on-off fiery relationship with Aaron Dingle, played by Danny Miller.
A source told The Sun : “Emmerdale fans have loved every minute of Robron’s story, and what Ryan has brought to playing Robert.
“But he has decided to take a break from the show for the foreseeable future and try other projects.”
They added that he is expected to leave later this year but will seen on screen right up until the end of 2019.
Robert first appeared on Emmerdale in 2014 and quickly became involved in a tumultuous affair with Aaron, despite being married to wife Chrissie.
Their romance was later exposed – but the drama certainly wasn’t over for the couple.
Following this, Robert and Aaron had to endure prison stints, near-death experiences and a cheating scandal.
But they managed to make it out the other side and have been enjoying a quieter life at home.
However Robert has been left devastated recently after discovering that his sister was raped Victoria during a night out, leading to Robert and Aaron’s vigilante mission for justice.
It is not yet known how he will leave the soap, but fans are already speculating that his exit could be sparked from Victoria’s current storyline.
The Mirror has contacted Emmerdale for comment.
