Boris, 55, and Carrie, 31, took out a joint mortgage on the £1.3million four-bed pad in Camberwell, South London.

Boris Johnson and his girlfriend Carrie Symonds have bought a £1.3million four-bed pad in South London

It comes after The Sun revealed that former PR guru Carrie will move into No 10 with Boris if he becomes Tory leader on Tuesday.

But one well-placed source said: “This does not change anything about No 10.

“Boris and Carrie wanted to buy somewhere together as a sign of their commitment and where they could put down roots together.

“They will get married when they can — and use this place as a marital home.”

It is a mile from the flat where Carrie and Boris were recorded having a late-night bust-up last month.

PR guru Carrie was seen moving furniture into the new home in Camberwell, south London with her mother this week – sparking rumours she was planning to live apart from Boris.

But Carrie and her Mum Josephine Whittaker were seen at the four-bedroom home she has bought with the Tory leadership favourite.

Neighbour Wayne Moseley, 47, said: “Josephine is very worried about Carrie, and angry at Tom for making the recording.

“She told me he crossed a line and she would like to punch him in the goolies.

“She said Carrie won’t be coming back because she’s scared.

“She wonders whether people have been recording her for months, trying to get dirt on Boris.

“Tom crossed a line by recording Carrie and Boris in their own home. Carrie was really scared and upset by the whole thing.

“We are happy to have Carrie and Boris living here – but I guess they will be moving to Downing Street pretty soon.”

Two other neighbours next door to Carrie’s apartment confirmed she and Boris have not returned since the argument.
