A BLACKMAIL victim shared his story of how his ex-girlfriend swindled him out of £30,000 by pretending to be pregnant with his baby.
Mum-of-three Chelsea Roberts, 26, texted the man, who preferred not to be named, to say she was pregnant after their three-month fling, and later down the line needed £600 for an abortion.

Her ex, who had just started a new relationship, told The Mirror: “There was no reason not to believe her.
“At that time I’d never have imagined a woman could be capable of lying about something like that.”
SEVEN MONTH-LONG SCAM
A month later, Roberts told him she did not go through with the abortion and instead needed money for a pram, cot and baby clothes.
The man, also 26, started paying Roberts between £20 and £800 almost weekly from his £12,000 of savings.
Despite receiving money weekly, Roberts continued to blackmail her ex.
He said: “She kept telling me that if I didn’t pay up she would go to my girlfriend’s work and tell her I had made her pregnant. Then she said she would go to my parents.
“She found out where my partner’s mum worked and said she would turn up there. I felt trapped. I was in a new relationship and thought I’d lose my girlfriend if I told her.”
One night I just lost it and told her I had no money left. She told me she’d tell police I’d raped her
Roberts, from Hull, began sending him close to 20 messages a day full of threats.
He added: “One night I just lost it and told her I had no money left. She told me she’d tell police I’d raped her. We both knew it wasn’t true but she said the police had to take her seriously.”
Roberts then went as far as setting up 20 fake Facebook profiles, both male and female, and messaged his girlfriend.
The scam continued for months. Seven months later, Roberts told him she had prematurely given birth to a baby boy she named Jax and that he was seriously ill with heart problems.
The victim said: “She wanted money almost every day to travel to the hospital. I asked if I could see my son but she said he was too sick. When I asked for pictures she would just say no.
When he asked Roberts to see Jax, she said the baby had died, before asking for money to cover the funeral.
He gave her £800 for funeral costs.

“The day my baby was supposed to be buried was one of the worst,” he said. “I had to sit at home thinking the child I had never seen was being laid to rest.”
The victim’s girlfriend persuaded him to go to police after seeing the WhatsApp messages.

Roberts was then jailed for four months for blackmail at Hull Crown Court in September but ended up serving half her sentence.
The Appeal Court changed her sentence to a two-year suspended term and she has not been ordered to pay compensation.
The victim has since said that “there’s been no justice” after Roberts “tried to ruin my life”.
