And with the French champs reportedly eyeing a move for Matthijs De Ligt this summer, Kimpembe could be further shunted down the line.

French news-site SoccerLink is reporting that the Gunners “came into contact with the player’s father to find out if a transfer is possible”.

The London club will be hoping the fact that he worked with Unai Emery when the Spaniard was boss at PSG could become an advantage.

And he is believed to be open to the idea of a move to North London.

CASE FOR THE DEFENCE

Manchester United and Chelsea are also believed to be interested in signing the 23-year-old should be become available, the starting bidding will be at least £30m.

And clearly the centre-half positions at the Emirates have been highlighted as a priority for recruitment this summer.

SunSport reported that the club have reportedly reached an agreement with William Saliba over a deal to bring the Saint-Etienne centre-back to the Emirates on a five-year deal.

But according to Foot Mercato, the North London side have stepped up their interest in the teenager, and have agreed terms with the player.

They state that all Arsenal need to do now is agree a fee with the Ligue 1 side, but they know that the defender has no shortage of admirers.

It is believed that any potential suitor of Saliba will have to fork out around £25million to snare him away from Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
