She’s been terrorising the A-list with hilarious interviews on This Morning for more than a decade now.
But it’s easy to forget that Alison Hammond actually found fame on series three of Big Brother alongside Jade Goody, PJ, Kate Lawler et al.
Sadly she got voted out after just two weeks, becoming the second evictee on June 8, 2002.
But in that short time she blazed a trail of outrageousness – destroying furniture, ‘weeing’ in the showers and winding up her more hygienic housemates just for the bants…
When she broke the table
Back in the good old days, the housemates were allowed to drink and smoke to their hearts’ content.
And as the housemates sat around drinking what was left of their “10 strong bottles of cider” through a fug of Marlborough Lights, Alison and Kate snuck outside to try and spot a security guard.
Being not in the least bit subtle, they jumped up and down on the outside table, guffawing with wild abandon.
But things got real quickly when Alison went through the table top.
Scuttling into the Diary Room to confess her sins, she told Big Brother, “I’ve done something really bad but it is an accident. I think I’ve just broken the outside table by jumping on it.”
Big Brother was not impressed and gave her a rollicking for breaking the rules by jumping on the furniture and trying to communicate with the outside world.
When she ‘took a tinkle’ in the shower
Alison loved to wind up her somewhat highly strung housemate Alex Sibley – who was a stickler for hygeine.
And he almost imploded with horror when she claimed she’d taken a wee in the communal shower.
Branding her “disgusting”, he nominated her for eviction as punishment and she ended up getting the boot after receiving just 1,000 more votes than him in Big Brother’s tightest vote ever.
“That Alex did my head in, he really did,” she later said, clearly baring a grudge.
“He was a little bit too fussy. I thought I was really uptight about things. But Alex is at least 50 per cent worse. He takes things too far. He should chill out more.
“With him around you even get scared if you don’t shut the door or something’s not clean. You worry that he’s going to find out.”
When she admitted it had all been jokes
In the end, it turned out Alison didn’t even wee in the shower! She just made it up to annoy Alex.
“I didn’t really do it,” she admitted.
“It was just a joke because we were running out of toilet roll.
“But what a big mistake it was. It started a huge row. I can’t believe Alex nominated me over that. And I can’t wait for him to find out I was only fooling around!”
When she revealed her eviction plan
Big Brother fans will remember how the weekly shopping list was everything. Food and drink were prized above all else, and stealing was punishable by hanging.
So when Alison found out she’d been given the boot, she planned to hit the housemates where it hurt – but forgot to go through with it.
“My first plan on hearing I was up for nomination was to eat all the food,” she said.
“I do like my food, I don’t know if that came across. I’d planned to raid the house fridge as I left but I forgot.”
When her eviction made her a star
Former cinema worker Alison burst into tears after her name was read out, but didn’t realise her eviction was going to change her life for good.
“I was absolutely devastated at the time. I was enjoying myself and was really upset when I had to leave,” said the former cinema worker, who’d hoped to win the £70,000.
“I had gone in to win the money and was gutted when I didn’t.
“But a producer from This Morning saw my eviction and said I was the ideal person to present a slot for them. If he hadn’t seen me I wouldn’t have got the job.
“If I had stayed in Big Brother until the end, I probably wouldn’t have had the career I have.
“So it was the best thing that ever happened to me.”
