Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are counting down the days with their wedding just a week away, but for actress Kathryn Drysdale, it’s a case of ‘been there, done that, already got the tiara’ as C4’s satirical soap opera The Windsors delivers its own outrageous take on the pair’s nuptials.

“It was fabulous,” says Kathryn, 36, who plays Meghan.
“I loved having my own ‘Royal Wedding’, especially getting out of the car, greeting the public outside our version of Windsor Castle, wearing a crown and frock and doing the royal wave.”
The one-off special will see Fergie (Katy Wix) trying to get into the reception, Pippa Middleton (Morgana Robinson) hoping to cause chaos on the big day and Wills (Hugh Skinner) and Kate (Louise Ford) struggling in the wake of the birth of their third child.

Meanwhile, Harry (Richard Goulding) is planning a riotous stag do and Charles (Harry Enfield) heads across the Pond to meet Meghan’s mum Doria – an “intelligent, feminist, avocado-eating woman”.
Manchester-born Kathryn’s interpretation of Meghan is a hilarious touchy-feely Californian actress who can’t help comparing everything in her life to Rachel Zane, the character Meghan played in US drama Suits.
