John Gosden’s Roaring Lion Cut In Price For The Derby After Dante Win But Not Certain To Run At Epsom

ROARING LION stormed to Betfred Dante Stakes glory but trainer John Gosden warned punters to hold their Investec Derby bets.

Bookies rushed to slash his Epsom Classic odds to 6-1 second favourite behind red-hot odds-on favourite Saxon Warrior after his success in the York Group 2 contest.

It was at long-last a credible opponent to Aidan O’Brien’s 2000 Guineas hero but Gosden – saddling his third Dante winner in the last four years – was quick to reveal Roaring Lion could head to the French Derby instead.

He said: “That’s confirmed Saxon Warrior is THE horse.

“He beat us at Doncaster in the Racing Post Trophy and he beat us in the 2000 Guineas – which is the best trial.

“We’ve won the second-best trial in emphatic style.

“He’s been training beautifully at home – he’s got himself mentally in the zone.

“He’s a complete playboy – his favourite trick is rearing up.
