KEEP your fingers Crossed in the Dante.
Improving CROSSED BATON held off My Lord And Master to win Epsom’s Blue Riband Trial last month and I reckon he’ll give John Gosden his third win in this Derby trial in the last four years.
PA:Press Association John Gosden can strike in the big race of the day at York 2.20 YORK: Call the Cops.
Speedy COPPER KNIGHT struck over today’s course and distance last May and he went on to finish third behind top-class sprinter Battaash.
He’s not been seen since September but he went close on his return last season and I’m not worried about his fitness.
His trainer Tim Easterby also has East Street Revue and Excessable making their returns. They’re both course winners with each-way claims at least.
Major Jumbo arrives in top form having signed off last season with a win and he doubled up on his comeback run at Newmarket. Softer ground would have been ideal.
I’m more worried about Holmeswood and progressive Sheepscar Lad.

2.40 SALISBURY: Count your Change in this fillies’ handicap.
TIME CHANGE made a respectable return when third behind Stream Song at Windsor and she looks well up to winning a race like this.
Fayrouz Rose made a successful debut for Richard Hughes. She won really well at Brighton but that was only a novice race and she has to give plenty of weight away.
Nottingham winner Last Enchantment has to prove she can do it on quick ground.

CHAIN OF DAISIES beat last year’s Coral-Eclipse hero Ulysses in a Windsor Group 3 in 2016 and she signed off last season by making all the running to win a Listed contest at Newmarket.
She’s not got a great record on her seasonal return by trainer Henry Candy has made an unusually good start to the season.
Coronet has the best form having swooped late to nut Mori on the line in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot last summer. She really needs further.
The same applies to Mori and she’s likely to improve plenty for the run.

CROSSED BATON made all the running to win the Blue Riband Trial at Epsom last month having won nicely on Kempton’s all-weather track.
He’s progressing well and he doesn’t have to lead so he looks to have a great chance.
James Cook was only fourth at Epsom but he should improve a fair bit for that run. Aidan O’Brien’s main hope could easily book his place in the Derby with victory today.
Mildenberger beat Fortune’s Pearl in the Fielden Stakes at Newmarket with the pair well clear of the third-placed horse.
He’s come up short on his two previous tries at Group 2 level but the longer trip should help.
Roaring Lion stepped up on his Craven comeback when fifth in the 2000 Guineas. He’s best when held up and this track is not ideal to pull off those tactics.
